Betsy Maxfield
About Me
My name is Betsy—no, I am not an Elizabeth! Not many of us out there. I was born and raised in Iowa and had a pretty awesome childhood—full of love and support and unfortunately, some losses too! (But this is the stuff that shapes us and maybe teaches us some GRIT, as well.)
I grew up trying most sports and every type of dance—I could do “run, run, lunges” in my sleep! My mom was a chauffeur driver from 3:30–7 p.m. almost nightly. In high school I played five sports, some better than others, and around 11th grade really focused on one sport: soccer.

About Betsy
Education & career
I ended up attending the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!) on a soccer scholarship and played four seasons there! I was a goalkeeper–and keepers are always a bit different. However, they do have some big-time superpowers. I’m telling you this in case you are raising a goalkeeper–be warned and embrace the fact that they are extraordinary! After graduating with a Sports Management degree, I worked for the Kansas City Wizards, Kansas City Chiefs, the U.S. Soccer Federation, The David Beckham Academy (Yes friends, I did meet David Beckham) and Sporting Kansas City. There have been a couple of consistent themes in all my jobs over the last 20 years; I have always worked in development and mainly youth development, along with coaching development and most recently the development of athletes off the field. I care deeply for people, especially our youth, and want them to succeed both on and off the playing field. I have learned a ton through my professional training and firsthand with my children and I can’t wait to help you all!

Testimonials
“Betsy helped bring clarity to our youth sports journey. We discussed a few of my daughter’s strengths & personality traits and based on that Betsy recommended a couple of different sports. I am happy to report my daughter is loving her new soccer team.”
– Sara B.
“What a blessing! Betsy’s calming voice reduced my anxiety as fall sports calendar approached. I was simply getting overwhelmed and needed someone to talk to.”
– Alica F.
“My son is 11 years old and has been asked to specialize in one particular sport. I had a lot of hesitations to be honest. Betsy was able to talk to me about the “ask” from the coach’s point of view, provided some really good resources to read, and helped me make an educated decision.
